Dr. Lewis is a Denver native and a graduate of Cherry Creek High School. He attended Colorado College on a Boettcher Scholarship and graduated with high honors. His medical training took him to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where he completed medical school, internship and residency in Internal Medicine. He then returned to Denver for sub-specialty training in Gastroenterology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Dr. Lewis is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and has been elected to Fellowship in the American College of Gastroenterology as well as the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American Gastroenterology society. He has been in private practice in South Denver since 1991.
Dr. Lewis serves on the Colorado Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee representing the Colorado-Wyoming Gastroenterology Society, and on the Littleton Hospital Peer Review Committee. He is currently Division Chief of Gastroenterology at Swedish Hospital. He serves on the Craig Rehabilitation Hospital Medical Executive Committee as well.
Dr. Lewis's interests include endoscopic management of Barrett's esophagus and Photodynamic Therapy, gastrointestinal problems in patients with spinal cord injury, therapeutic biliary and gastrointestinal endoscopy, and management of inflammatory bowel disease. When not working, Dr. Lewis enjoys hiking, running, skiing and an occasional bike ride.
