No solid food after Midnight on the night before the
exam. Clear liquid only up to 4 hours prior to the procedure,
then nothing to eat or drink.
Clear liquids include:

Strained fruit juices without pulp (apple, white grape, lemonade)

Water

Clear broth or bouillon

Coffee or tea (without milk or non-dairy creamer)
All of the following are allowed that are not colored red or purple:

Gatorade
-
Carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks
-
Kool-Aid (or other fruit flavored drinks)
-
Plain Jello (without added fruits or toppings)
-
Ice popsicles
-
Do not take aspirin, Advil or any anti-inflammatory products one week before your procedure.

Tylenol is OK to take, if needed.

Coumadin patients must contact their doctor about
stopping the Coumadin before the procedure (3-5 days, depending on the
patient). A Pro-time must be drawn the day before the procedure.
